The league plays by USGA rules with the following exceptions. All of these exceptions are added to speed up play and to avoid delays associated with hunting for balls and having to re-hit from the place last hit from.
1. This
league encourages you to play ready golf, meaning, if you are ready to play
your shot, and it doesn't interfere with another player, you are free to do so.
More commonly, once you begin putting, you are free to continue putting until
you hole out as long as you do not step on the putting line of another player.
Note that golf etiquette is still in effect.
2. The
maximum score you can take on any hole is four(4) strokes over par (that's 7 for the par threes and 8 for the par fours).
3. If
a player hits a ball out of bounds (OB), the player may drop a ball within two
club lengths of the point at which the ball went OB, no closer to the hole, and
take a one stroke penalty (similar to the lateral hazard rule). Note that the
player is "not" allowed to play the ball from the OB position but
"must" take the drop and penalty (unlike the lateral hazard rule).
4. If
your ball strikes any of the light poles on the course (fairway or greenside),
you have an option to replay the shot, or not if you like the result. Note that
no penalty stroke is incurred. IF you replay the shot, you must play from the new ball. You can't play the ball that hit the pole.
5. If there are blue markers on grass tee boxes, you must tee from there. Otherwise, tee off from the mats.
